For a long time I had a dream: owning a condo in Thailand.
A place with amazing facilities like a swimming pool, gym, sauna and steam room, where I could slow down between my travels in Asia.

What surprised me the most was discovering that it was actually possible to make it happen for less than €50,000, the price of a small but well equipped studio flat. For me it was the perfect solution. But the Thai property market is huge, and there is truly something for everyone.

Can Foreigners buy a Property in Thailand?

Many people don’t know this, but foreigners can legally buy a condominium unit in Thailand. In fact, when I bought my condo I was on a tourist visa and didn’t even have a Thai bank account.

The main rule is that the building must still have foreigner quota available, meaning foreigners cannot own more than 49% of the total units in the condominium.

Another thing that might surprise you is how fast the process can be. In my case, the entire purchase took just two weeks, from agreeing on the price to signing the final documents at the Land Office and officially becoming the owner of the unit.
